Marvin’s Room is a mordantly funny comedy/drama about two estranged sisters who reluctantly reunite in the face of a looming crisis. “One of the funniest plays of the year”--The New York Times.
There are roles for 8-10 actors, and all roles open to all racial/ethnic/gender identities.
Auditions
Auditions will consist of theater games and cold readings from the script. No pre-registration is required. Actors should only attend one of the two general auditions but should be available for callbacks. Actors should arrive at the beginning of the audition session. You may download and print an audition form and conflict calendar in advance and bring them to auditions, or you can fill out a form and conflict calendar at the beginning of the audition session. Below are scenes we will be reading at auditions, but no advance preparation of the scenes is required for the cold readings.
Rehearsals begin March 19. Rehearsals will be scheduled each week Monday thru Thursday evenings from 7pm-9:30pm. We may schedule occasional weekend day rehearsals depending on cast availability.

Please note: The Ann Street entrance to the A2CT studio will be closed for a week beginning March 11. Access to the studio is available via a driveway off Huron Street, immediately West of the Delonis Center (between the Delonis Center and the railroad trestle).

Character List
Bessie: (40-60ish) A kind and caring woman who has devoted her life to caring for her ailing father and aunt.
Lee: (late-30’s to late 50’s) Bessie’s strong-willed and irresponsible younger sister.
Ruth: (60-90) Bessie and Lee’s gregarious and candid aunt.
Hank: (must appear to be in his late teens) Lee’s troubled son. May be played by any gender identity.
Charlie: (must appear to be in his mid-late teens) Lee’s younger, earnest and sweet son. May be played by any gender identity.
Doctor Wally: (30-80) Bessie’s kind but absent-minded doctor.
Bob: (30-80) Dr. Wally’s quirky temporary assistant.
Dr. Charlotte: (30’s-70’s) Hank’s therapist
Retirement Home Director: (30’s-70) Director of a retirement home Bessie and Lee are considering for their father and aunt. Dr. Charlotte and Retirement Home Director can be played by one or two actors
Marvin: Bessie and Lee’s father, an offstage presence
