Personal Storytelling (Adults)
w/Brian Cox
September 10-October 1
Sundays 12:30-3 p.m.
This 4-week workshop will involve discussion of effective story structure, essential elements of a compelling story, techniques for identifying and developing a story, and direction on performing stories live. Over the course of the workshop, participants will develop and rehearse a 10-minute story inspired by a photograph that they will share in a live performance for friends and family at the end.
About the instructor: Brian Cox is the artistic director of Pencilpoint TheatreWorks. He has produced more than 20 “Snapshots: Stories of Life”, a popular, curated show of live storytelling inspired by personal photographs. He is an experienced coach and has coached local favorites including Breeda Miller, Tamar Charney, and Lyn Davidge. The class culminates in a showcase performance. Participants are asked to bring a selection of some favorite personal photographs to the first class. All experience levels are welcome.
