In this course we will delve into the fundamentals of stage combat, both with and without a sword in hand. Each class will cover foundational skills in unarmed combat and single sword swashbuckling, as well as ways to merge the character's motivations with the action taking place. No prior skill or training is required. This course is designed to teach and reinforce safe techniques and best practices to ensure a good quality, safe, and repeatable action scene that is dynamic and engaging for the audience.  

About the instructor:  Jonny Boeger has been an actor, stage combatant, and musical comedy act since 2000 at renaissance festivals around the country, where he has appeared as characters from a lowly peasant to a German prince and all points in between. Other favorite roles have included the Cheshire Cat in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Lysander in Excerpts from A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, and Colas in the opera Bastien and Bastienne. Most recently, he has been a knight in shining armor with the jousting company Equus Nobilis out of St. Louis, MO.
