Acting: Scenes for Teens and Tweens (Ages 12-14)
w/Alex Moore
January 9-March 5
Tuesdays 3:35-4:35 p.m.
$180
This class is designed for anyone interested in developing their acting abilities. Every class will consist of some warm-up theater games and/or acting skills work. For the first half of the term, students will spend class time in pairs or small groups to practice different scenes (whether comedic or serious) and perform for the class informally. Students will all get individual feedback while having fun performing. Eventually, students will decide on a scene to perform and spend time practicing and perfecting it for a final showcase for family during the last week of class.
About the instructor: Alex began acting at a professional repertory theater in Los Angeles at age 12. By age 15, she was teaching acting, improvisation, dance, and theater games to the younger acting students, and by age 18, she was directing the plays for the youth summer camp program. During this time, she also performed in many professional productions. After completing a degree in American Studies, she joined the theater full-time as a member of the repertory company and had the opportunity to perform regularly, tour abroad, and teach acting classes for kids, including drama outreach programs in the public schools. She currently is a substitute teacher at Emerson School and directs plays and musicals for Chelsea Area Players Youth Theater.
