Act it Out (K-2)
w/Alex Moore
September 12-October 24
Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 p.m.
This introductory drama class aimed at beginning theater students will use a combination of theater games, dramatic exercises, and imagination to help develop confidence and a love for theater. Each class will begin with some warm-up activities designed to help ease students onto the stage and to begin to feel comfortable in front of an audience. Actors use their voices, bodies, and faces, so we will be playing games and doing exercises to develop all of these tools of the actor. Students will work mostly in groups but there will be opportunities for those who are already confident to perform individually. This is a great, no-stress, fun way to try acting on for size! Grades K-2, reading is not required.
About the instructor: Alex began acting at a professional repertory theater in Los Angeles at age 12. By age 15, she was teaching acting, improvisation, dance, and theater games to the younger acting students, and by age 18, she was directing the plays for the youth summer camp program. During this time, she also performed in many professional productions. After completing a degree in American Studies, she joined the theater full-time as a member of the repertory company and had the opportunity to perform regularly, tour abroad, and teach acting classes for kids, including drama outreach programs in the public schools. She currently is a substitute teacher at Emerson School and directs plays and musicals for Chelsea Area Players Youth Theater.
